Ancient Rome was heavily influenced by several cultures. Mainly Etruscan and Greek influences are easily seen. Much of the early Roman art was influenced by the then-powerful Etruscans. Temples looked very much like Greek ones, but upon closer inspection it can be seen that they had very different ideals. Other art forms, such as literature, were very much influenced by early Greek writings. The Roman empire spread over vast areas and trade was very important. In this way, Rome was influenced by everyone and everything it conquered, as well as their trading partners. Rome, in turn, influenced these other cultures as well.
